Principal's Message

May 2, 2025

Happy Friday, Quail Families,

This week, we were so thrilled to celebrate our very own Quail Run Shining Star, Miss Neena Mamidi! Her dedication, enthusiasm, and positive impact on our students and staff truly make Quail Run shine brighter. Thank you, Miss Mamidi, for all you do!

We also want to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Math Olympiad team this year! Their dedication and problem-solving skills have truly shone. We are incredibly proud that one of our students, Julie Kubota, ranked in the top 2% nationally, and four other students placed in the top 10% nationwide. Furthermore, over half of our Math Olympiad participants ranked in the top 50%! Please join us in celebrating these talented mathematicians and their hard work at a certificate presentation on Saturday, May 10th at 3:00 PM at Monarch Park.

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that Kids Against Hunger is coming to Quail Run on Friday, May 16th! This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to actively participate in a meaningful cause, packaging nutritious meals for children in need. We will once again be showing our compassion, empathy, and civic duty through this impactful event. To make Kids Against Hunger a success, we are asking for parent volunteers to help us on May 16th. Your support in this endeavor is invaluable and truly makes a difference. Here is the link to sign up!

Warmly,

Bassant Abdelrahman

SRVUSD NEWS

MAY RESOLUTIONS

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. California is home to over 600,000 students of Asian and Pacific Islander descent and they reflect the great diversity of culture and heritage of their many countries. SRVUSD’s Board of Education recognizes the need for all students to develop pride in their own identity and heritage as well as understand, respect, and accept the identity and heritage of others.

Jewish American Heritage Month

San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of May as Jewish American Heritage Month. Members of Jewish communities have sustained strong cultural identities and traditions despite persecution, anti-Semitism, forced segregation, and the horrors of the Holocaust. Jews have contributed to the culture and progress of the United States as scientists, teachers, entrepreneurs, members of the Armed Forces, public servants, and citizens in all walks of life. We recognize and must remember that anti-Semitism continues to be a concern in this nation and across the globe, and we acknowledge the need to continue in our efforts at understanding and inclusion.

Mental Health Awareness Month

San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of May as Mental Health Awareness Month. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that 13-20% of youth ages 13-18 have a diagnosed mental health disorder in the United States. With the rise in stress, fear, uncertainty, and suicidal thoughts, addressing the mental health needs of children, youth, and families is critical. The Board of Education commits that SRVUSD will intentionally commit to: Increasing awareness and understanding of mental health for our entire educational community; helping our children, youth and adults be aware of the steps they can take to protect their mental health; and providing appropriate and accessible services for all people, especially children and youth with mental health conditions.

In Support of Heroes Month

San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of May as Heroes Month. Police officers, firefighters, military personnel, and medical professionals dedicate their lives to serving our communities and nation. In recognizing their selfless contributions, the Board of Education encourages students to learn about and explore careers in these essential service fields. Many students have family members in these professions, making this a meaningful opportunity to deepen understanding and appreciation. SRVUSD will intentionally commit to promoting respect and awareness for service professions, aligning classroom learning with career exploration, and providing students with robust opportunities through our new College & Career Readiness (CCR) platform to explore pathways in law enforcement, firefighting, healthcare, and the military.

Day of the Teacher: May 7, 2025

San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes May 7, 2025, as Day of the Teacher. SRVUSD’s Board of Education encourages appropriate activities that celebrate our teachers and the teaching profession. The quality of all students’ educational experiences depends significantly upon the quality and effectiveness of their teachers. SRVUSD administrators and school communities have the utmost respect and admiration for the district’s teachers as they are individuals who have dedicated their lives and talents to the education of our children.

Classified School Employee Week: May 18-24

San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the week of May 18-24, 2025 as Classified School Employee Week. Classified employees serve a vital role in creating strong, effective schools and district offices. Classified employees support students in the classroom, perform vital clerical, office, and technology functions, prepare and serve student meals, perform custodial, maintenance, and grounds services, serve as bus drivers and crossing guards, and administer other essential services that ensure that our students, campuses, and offices run smoothly and effectively. The SRVUSD Board of Education supports the celebration of Classified School Employee Week and recognizes the outstanding contributions provided by the district’s classified employees.
