March 7, 2025 Happy Friday, Quail Families, It's been another busy week at Quail Run! We've seen so much positive energy and learning throughout the campus. Here's a quick recap of the highlights: -
Positive Behavior Assembly 1st and 2nd Grade: We had three fantastic first and second-grade behavior assemblies this week! We reviewed our campus expectations, focusing on kindness, respect, and responsibility, as well as making safe choices. It was wonderful to see our younger students actively participating and demonstrating their understanding.
-
Off-Campus Field Trips: Our second graders enjoyed a fun trip to In-N-Out, and three of our third-grade classes had a wonderful time exploring Sunol Regional Wilderness Park. We appreciate the teachers and parent volunteers who made these experiences possible!
-
Site Council Approves SPSA: Our Site Council held a successful meeting and approved the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) for the next school year. This plan will guide our efforts to support student learning and growth.
5th Grade Math Advancement Assessment Information: A reminder for our 5th-grade families: The 5th-grade advancement assessment is a 50-question test based on 6th-grade standards. This assesses readiness to skip 6th-grade math (Course 1) upon entering middle school and determines readiness of Course 2 (7th grade math). Please remember: This is NOT the only opportunity for your child to advance in math.
Acceleration is not necessary in order to have access to college-ready math courses in high school. Please opt-in or out by Wednesday, March 19th. For more information regarding math placement in SRVUSD, please see the attached program presentation slide deck.
PTA Recruitment Event: Please join me tomorrow, Saturday, March 16th, at Mosaic Park from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for our PTA recruitment event. We'd love to see you there!
As we head into the excitement of spring break approaching, let’s reinforce the importance of being responsible and respectful at school. This includes: - Following classroom and school rules.
- Treating everyone with kindness and respect.
- Taking care of our school environment.
- Making safe choices during recess and other activities.
-
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to another great week ahead!
Warmly, Bassant Abdelrahman Proud Principal of Quail Run Elementary |

Coach's Corner Please make sure that students wear athletic shoes on PE days. For rainy day weather, students should bring athletic shoes in their backpacks. (if they wear rain boots) Please have students write in planners the day before as part of HW, “wear PE shoes.” |
| TRAFFIC SAFETY REMINDERS To ensure the safety and efficiency of our student drop-off process, we need everyone's cooperation. Please adhere to the following guidelines regarding the designated drop-off area: -
Designated Drop-Off Area Only: The small section near the blacktop, bordered by orange cones, is for quick drop-offs only.
- No Parking: This is a designated drop-off zone, not a parking area. Please do not leave your vehicle unattended.
For the safety of all students and to maintain smooth traffic flow, please also follow these traffic flow guidelines: - Pull Forward: Pull your vehicle as far forward as possible, past the crosswalk, before your child exits.
-
Use Designated Lane Only: Do not drop off students in the second lane. This is a significant safety hazard.
- Crosswalk Safety: Drop off your child beyond the crosswalk to ensure their safe passage.
-
Quick Drop-offs: Have your child ready to exit quickly to minimize delays.
- Patience and Courtesy: We understand drop-off times can be busy. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated
