Parent Update Friday, March 7, 2025 |
Dear SD 308 Community,
As we prepare for our clocks to jump ahead, we look forward to all the exciting activities just around the corner in Oswego Community Unit School District 308! I want to highlight a few things that you will find in our newsletter below.
We are eager to meet our incoming kindergarten students at next week's Kinder-Quest Fair! This will be a wonderful time to engage with your student's future school and district departments. Please consider attending this for an evening of fun and helpful information! If you have a rising kindergartner or know of someone who does, we would love to welcome them to this event.
I invite you to join us for two enriching community gatherings: the free Mental Health and Wellness Symposium this Saturday at Metea Valley High School, where we have partnered with neighboring school districts to provide a wealth of resources and workshops on mental health and wellness. This will be followed by next Thursday's AMPLIFY event, where our students will bravely share their personal journeys, demonstrating the transformative power of shared learning and storytelling.
While we are in the final steps of launching our new Strategic Plan, we are also looking to learn about your experience this year as a parent/guardian in SD 308. Our strategic plan will coordinate and chart paths of success for our schools. As you know, we grow through meaningful feedback. If you feel inclined to share your input, we would appreciate hearing your thoughts via the 5Essentials Survey, which is open now through March 28. Thank you in advance for your time!
Have a great weekend, |

5Essentials Survey Information |
|
|
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is conducting the 12th annual 5Essentials Survey, a statewide tool utilized to analyze five indicators that positively impact student success (Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Supportive Environments, and Ambitious Instruction).
From now through March 28, students, families, teachers, and other staff members will have the opportunity to complete a 30-minute research-based survey, providing feedback to help identify strengths and weaknesses of our district's learning environments. The results of this survey are highly valued. The information collected from 5Essentials allows us to make necessary adjustments and improvements in our schools, thus resulting in the best possible outcome for each of our students and staff members.
Please consider contributing your insights and experiences to this survey, which can be found at the link here. For additional information, refer to this flyer (Spanish) or the link below.
