Hello TK-2nd Grade Families! Welcome to March! We are wishing you all the best of luck in your endeavors!
What's Important?
Homework:
Please make sure that your child has their homework folder with them each day! Please check the homework folder each night for important paperwork, and to make sure your child is completing their homework. ASP does not ensure that homework is complete or correct!
Words to Know:
Each week your child has a list of words in their Reading Folder that they need to memorize. These are either Vocabulary or High Frequency Words. Often these words cannot be sounded out and instead must be memorized. Please find this list and help your child practice memorizing these words, and their meanings. They are an important part of their weekly assessments, and future success with becoming skilled readers!
Reading Folder:
Please be sure to complete the reading in the Reading Folder, and the reading log, each night, and send the folder back on Friday. Students who do not complete their reading folder are not getting the much needed practice with the phonics and vocabulary for the week. This is the best way for you to see how well your child is progressing in their reading, and to help them improve.
Spelling:
Students in grades 1 and 2 have a spelling list each week. Please help them practice their spelling words throughout the week. You can give them practice tests, have them spell words that you recite to them, or research some fun ways to practice as a family at home. Try this link for some ideas!

Pyramid of Success Blocks for March:
Fitness: "Act, eat, and think right. To do your best --- %100 --- and succeed you must eat right, think right, and act right! Making the full effort to do the right thing can never be taken away from you. If you see others breaking the rules, tell yourself, 'They are hurting themselves, but they are teaching me what NOT to do.'"
Skill: "Practice makes perfect. Be good at what you do! Learn the subject! You have to know what you're doing and be able to do it quickly and properly. To improve your level of skill practice, study, and repetition, repetition, repetition."
What's Fun?
The BRAVE Experience, grades 1-8, took a trip to Board and Brush DIY Studio, in Chico, on February 22, 2025. This trip was art focused. Everyone had a fun time. We hope you enjoyed the piece of art your child brought home, if they attended.
This month there will be 3 Saturday field trips:
March 1, 2025 to Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding.
March 15, 2025 to Chico Children's Museum and Gateway Science Museum.
March 29, 2025 to the Esquire IMAX Theatre and Sutter's Fort in Sacramento.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me at kperez@puesd.org, or call (530) 429-5155.
