December 13, 2024 Good Afternoon, Tigers Families,
Tonight we look forward to celebrating the season with our annual Frosty Fest Dance - we are so thankful for the efforts from Home and School and our family volunteers who will make the night extra special for our students. We would like to remind families to pick up their students promptly at 7:30 PM when the event concludes.
The fall semester will conclude next Friday, December 20th, so we would like to encourage all students to communicate with their teachers about any late or missing work that could be impacting their grade by Monday of next week to ensure teachers have time to finalize accurate grades. We would like to remind our learning community that Friday, December 20th is a partial day for student attendance - we will dismiss students at 11:40 AM. Go Army, Beat Navy! ** How can my child best protect their belongings? Parents/guardians - we encourage you to have conversations with your student about bringing ONLY the items that are required/needed during school. Avoid carrying excessive amounts of money, items of sentimental or monetary value (including electronics like AirPods) to ensure it is not lost or damaged while at school. If students need to buy a lunch, you can simply load money in their e-wallet through PushCoin. Additionally, please have your student label their belongings (i.e. Chromebook charger, backpacks, water bottles, coats, etc..), so it is easier to return to students.
** No outside restaurant food or deliveries are allowed for students.** Attendance Reminder!
If your child is going to be absent from school for any reason, please call the attendance line at 630-636-2601 in a timely manner. Please leave the following details in your message: Your name Your student's name Phone number you can be reached with any questions Reason for absence (including any symptoms, if out for illness).
Automated Attendance & Tardy Messages
Everyday automated attendance calls are sent out by the district at 9:30 AM, based on the attendance we have entered into the system by 9:15 AM. Additionally, automated tardy messages are sent out by the district to parents at 3:30 PM daily. If your student is marked tardy it means they were late to a class. You can check tardies and absences in PowerSchool. Please discuss with your student or their teacher for more information. |

Coping with Stress
Stress is a natural feeling, designed to help us cope in challenging situations. In small amounts it can be good, because it pushes individuals to work hard. A Lot of stress or not being able to manage stress, can lead to mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. It can also affect academic performance.
There are lots of possible signs of stress such as feeling irritable, anxious, like you cannot enjoy yourself, or worried a lot of the time. Things that can help with stress: -
Work out what it is that's making you feel stressed. For example, is it exams, money or relationship problems? See if you can change your circumstances to ease the pressure you're under.
- Try to have a healthy lifestyle. Eat well, get enough sleep, be physically active, moderate caffeine, and take time to relax as well as working and studying.
- Try not to worry about the future or compare yourself with others.
-
Try to plan your time to help you keep track of your work. Break it down into manageable chunks so you can keep up with deadlines.
- Try talking to a friend, tutor or someone in your family about your stress.
- Try relaxation and breathing exercises. One of my favorites is this GIF: click here.
