Hello TK-2nd Grade Families!

I trust you all had a nice Christmas and New Year!

What's Important?

Homework Supplies:

All students need to have a backpack and their homework folder with them each day when they come to school.  Please be sure your child has these items when they are leaving the house each morning. Please check the homework folder each night to make sure your child is completing their homework.  ASP does not ensure that homework is complete or correct!

Reading Folder:

Please be sure to complete the reading in the Reading Folder, and the reading log, each night, and send the folder back on Friday.  Students who do not complete their reading folder are not getting the much needed practice with the phonics and vocabulary for the week. This is the best way for you to see how well your child is progressing in their reading, and to help them improve. 

Spelling:

Students in grades 1 and 2 have a spelling list each week.  Please help them practice their spelling words throughout the week.  You can give them practice tests, have them spell words that you recite to them, or research some fun ways to practice as a family at home.  Try this link for some ideas!

Action: "Be quick, but don't hurry." Do not sit on your hands doing nothing. Instead raise your hand and speak up! Ask for the help you need so you can accomplish the task!

Alertness: "What you learn after you know it all is what counts." Pay attention to what is going on around you, all the time.  Listen with your ears and your eyes. Always be listening and learning and you'll be heading to success.

What's Fun?

The BRAVE Experience is taking a trip to Sea Quest Aquarium in Folsom, on January 18, 2025.  The field trip forms went home on January 9th, and are due back no later than January 16th. 2025. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me at kperez@puesd.org, or call (530) 429-5155.

Mr.Peet's Corner

    We're back in school after a nice break, and so far so good. We just started doing geometry in math which the kids always seem to enjoy. China is next up for us in history, and we should be starting a new class novel shortly as the book "Alone" is almost complete. 

    As usual I still find myself reminding the students that any homework that isn't completed in the afterschool program needs to be finished at home. Any help I can receive on this from the parents would be greatly appreciated.
