Dear Sycamore Valley Families,
I hope that all is well with you and your family.
We have been busy thinking about all things fall. From TK assembling a beautiful fall tree, Kindergarteners learning about spiders and pumpkins in science, 1st graders doing fall themed math pattern work, second graders painting black cats, third graders writing spooky stories, fourth graders playing with cool and warm colors in their Haunted House paintings, to fifth graders leaning into the 5th grade fall traditions - we are enjoying the shift in seasons as we continue to grow!

RESEARCH PROJECTS
The Research Project for October is aligned with the upcoming “Red Ribbon Week.” Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign to increase student awareness of the importance of making healthy choices. Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for schools and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention.
Students can pick any topic for their research presentation that is related to the importance of making healthy choices for the human body and mind. Example research topics may include exercise, sports, healthy eating, etc.
Presentations can be a trifold and/or poster board. Trifolds for projects are available in the front office. For this research topic we will not be accepting slide show (ppt), audio or video presentations as all research presentations will be displayed at the upcoming PTA event for Red Ribbon Week in the MPR. (Date will be announced soon.)
Presentations are due during the week of October 28 – October 31. Students should bring their presentations to the “Red Ribbon Week” event for displaying. Students should take their research projects home at the end of the event.
