This month, I’ve truly valued the opportunities to connect with students and our school communities. At the “Just A Student Panel”, co-sponsored by SRVUSD and SRVCPTA, we listened to students openly share their concerns, hopes, and needs—a powerful reminder of why student voice matters.
I also had the pleasure of visiting the stunning Ofrendas for Día de los Muertos at the Dougherty Valley High School Library. While at DVHS, I attended a panel featuring students and teachers from the unique 9th-grade interdisciplinary cohort. It was inspiring to witness the deep engagement and collaboration between both students and educators, showcasing a vibrant learning environment. Last year, I learned about our schools’ participation in the Ruby Bridges Walk to School event and knew I wanted to be part of this year’s celebration of Ruby Bridges’ courage. |

This week, I was honored to join Neil Armstrong Elementary for their inaugural Ruby Bridges Walk. The turnout was incredible—students, parents, and school staff came together to commemorate this historic moment. The business community also stepped up, with AAA generously providing embroidered knit caps, stickers, pins, and flags to support the event! |

#WeAreSRVUSD: Cammack Connection |
This week was busy and productive. On Wednesday night, the Budget Advisory Committee met and collectively discussed solutions for the District’s budget-balancing process. Thursday night, we hosted the first of three Town Halls for the community to learn more and ask questions about the District’s current financial situation and budget reductions for next school year. Two additional Town Halls are scheduled for next week; I encourage everyone who can make it to join us, and to also share your voice by filling out the Budget Reductions Input Survey.
Today I visited Ms. Raine Rasala’s fun-filled Greenbrook preschool class and had the privilege of delivering her Above & Beyond Employee Recognition award. Ms. Rasala is one of two very deserving October award winners. The colleagues who nominated her shared, “Raine is an amazing educator who continues to go above and beyond for not only all of her students but her para educators and fellow teachers as well.” Interested in staying up to date with Superintendent Cammack? Follow him on Instagram @supcjcammack.

SRVUSD is proud to have many former students return to the district as employees. These staff members have lifelong connections with our community, and our students benefit! This week we highlight Cheryl Dreebin, Autism Specialist Para at Bollinger Canyon. |

School Highlight: Deep Learning and Innovation in Action |
On Thursday, SRVUSD students stepped into history by participating in the Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, honoring the courage of a six year-old who helped break racial barriers in education. In addition to the walk, our classrooms turned this powerful experience into a deeper learning opportunity about social justice, civil rights, and the ongoing fight for equality, gaining a deeper understanding of what it means to walk in someone else’s shoes.

Middle schoolers from five of our campuses united for Leadership Development Day, a high-energy event all about building leadership skills and leading with empathy. Through fun, engaging activities, students honed lifelong skills like communication, cultural awareness, connection, and perseverance - all skills emphasized in our Learner Profile. Guided by expert facilitators, our students left inspired, energized, and ready to lead with heart!

Sometimes there are just no words to underscore the gratitude we feel for the incredible volunteers of SRVUSD. Events like the Ruby Bridges Walk, Fun Runs, and multicultural events (just to name a few) would not be possible without their tireless energy and can-do spirit. Here are a few photos of Green Valley’s Ruby Bridges’ Walk to School Day volunteers, Stone Valley’s Run for Education volunteer (and mascot for the day!), as well as events at Twin Creeks and Hidden Hills. Thank you to our volunteers - we can’t do it without you!
