Parent Update Thursday, November 21, 2024 |
Dear SD 308 Families and Staff,
As we embark on an exciting journey to shape the future of our schools, I am pleased to share that we are in the early stages of developing a strategic plan that will guide us in the years ahead. This plan will serve as our shared vision, ensuring that every decision we make reflects our commitment to providing the best possible education for all students, grounded by our core values and focused on our mission. We have collected information through various sources including audits and evaluations, which inform our current state and needs for the future.
Your voice is essential in this process of strategizing our priorities. Over the coming months, we will provide more opportunities for families, staff, students, and community members to share their insights, ideas, and aspirations. Engagements will include online surveys, conversations at parent, staff, and student meetings, and special focus groups. Together, we will create a plan that reflects our district's collective priorities and values. I look forward to collaborating with all of you as we work toward this exciting vision for our future.
As we embrace the arrival of winter weather, I want to remind everyone that the safety of our students and staff remains a top priority. We have prepared a refresher on our procedures for potential weather-related adjustments, including delays, closures, and remote learning options if necessary. Please keep an eye on your email and district communication channels for updates.
Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and dedication to our students. Together, we are building a brighter future for everyone in our district. Stay warm, and travel safe! Sincerely, |

A collaboration that began between classes at Bednarcik Junior High School and Wolf's Crossing Elementary School has turned into a yearly experience enjoyed by all who are involved.
As part of their child development unit, students from Bednarcik's Family and Consumer Science 1 class prepare lesson plans, which they then carry out at Wolf's Crossing. "It's my students' favorite day of the year," said Amy Overstreet, a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Bednarcik. |

On a brisk November morning, first responders from the Oswego Fire Protection District joined students and staff from the Oswego High School Special Education Department in an exchange of excitement, mutual respect, and appreciation.
“I think it’s important to support the community and the school district, and it was a way for us to help out with what the school is trying to accomplish in their scholarship,” said Lt. Kris Kearns of the Oswego Fire Protection District. “It was just a good fit, a good partnership.” |
