November 7, 2024 Dear Staff, Parents/Caregivers, and High School Students,
In a continued effort to keep you updated on developments within SRVUSD, both immediate and future-focused actions, I am writing to share some important information. I am hopeful you’ll join me in celebrating the successful outcomes from our Measure Q election. While the results of the election are not yet certified, early returns show we are at 73% of voters in favor of Measure Q. Pending certification of these results, this demonstrates the commitment of our local voters to support students and staff toward continuous improvement and achievement. Measure Q is a reflection of how we all share the belief that collaboration and partnership yield the best results for our students. I am so grateful to our community of voters for this generous support of SRVUSD.
Thank you to all the members of our community who were part of this successful campaign effort. The volunteers were simply amazing. We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude. From PTAs and Ed Funds to community volunteers and leaders who stepped up to donate fiscal and human capital, this wouldn’t have been possible without each of you. Special thanks to the campaign co-chairs, Alicia Gholami and Kristin McCollum.

As you may recall from prior communications, SRVUSD must make roughly 24 million dollars in reductions for the 2025/2026 school year. This number would have jumped to a 31 million dollar target if Measure Q was not successful, so you can already see how important this level of community support is to our staff and students across SRVUSD.
While I am grateful that our budget reduction target was not elevated, I remain focused on how to achieve the needed level of reductions to ensure the short and long-term fiscal sustainability of the district. SRVUSD values your input and believes that your voice plays an essential role in shaping the future of our fiscal priorities. Our goal is to ensure a collaborative and transparent process for developing budget-balancing solutions, and I’d love to have your engagement in this process. I invite you to participate in two upcoming opportunities to provide feedback. Here is a short video to offer you some more context.

If you have not done so already, I hope you are able to take some time to review the School Finance Federal, State, & Local Funding presentation. I have presented this information to a few groups in SRVUSD and our community. Please note the entire presentation is just under an hour, so if you do decide to review this material, I suggest you make yourself comfortable first, or view it in chunks.
Your input is vital in ensuring that our decisions reflect the needs and values of our community. Please take the time to participate and make your voice heard. Please reach out to budgetinfo@srvusd.net with any questions or comments. Thank you for your continued support and involvement. Sincerely, CJ Cammack Superintendent San Ramon Valley Unified |
