Fox Chase Elementary

A Message from FC's Administration

This week students are given the Emergency Day packets #1 and #2 and asked to bring them home.  Please keep these at home in a safe place.  In the event that we would ever need to cancel/shutdown school for any reason, we would require our students to work out of these packets in lieu of school work for the emergency day.  In order for your student to be counted as “present” on an emergency day, a parent signature must be provided on page 2 of the packet and returned to school when we return.

Arrival/ Dismissal at Fox Chase Elementary

Arrival: Students will be allowed to enter the building at 8:40 a.m.

Dismissal: Students will be dismissed at 3:45 p.m.

NOTES: Having a consistent routine is very beneficial to helping your child feel more comfortable and confident at school. Be sure your child knows how they get home (bus, car, or walk), and we ask that changes to this routine are minimal. If you do need to change your child’s arrival/ dismissal option for the day, please contact the main office by calling 630-636-3000 no later than 2:45 PM.

Student Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

Car Rider Parent Drop-off and Pick-up:

We have TWO (2) different locations for parent drop-off and pick-up.

The Fox Chase Drive-Up Circle

This is the lane in the front of the school. Students being dropped off in the Fox Chase Drive-Up Circle will enter through Door 12 in the morning and exit through Door 1 in the afternoon. This will be the drop-off location for the following geographic areas:

  • Fox Chase South subdivision
  • Fox Chase subdivision east of Lynx  (Fox Chase Drive North-east of Lynx, Deerpath Drive, and Whitetail Crossing)
  • Park Place south of Century
  • Hometown/Village Square
  • River Run
  • Gates Creek
  • The Century Drive-Up Circle

This is the drive-up circle on the west side of the building located in the parking lot west of the school by Door 8.  This is the drop-off location for the following geographic areas:

  • Estates of Fox Chase
  • Park Place: all of Century and west of the subdivision
  • Fox Chase Subdivision (west of Lynx Ln.)

Please Note the Following:

Parents will not be allowed to use the bus loading zone located on the East side of the building. This is for buses and special services only.

Cars must display a sign and tape it on the passenger window with your student's FIRST and LAST NAMES and grade level for each person that will be picked up in the afternoon.  We will be handing out signs on the first couple of days of school.

Please follow the directions of staff to ensure a smooth drop-off and pick-up process for all.

  • Students should enter/exit from the passenger side of the vehicle. PARENTS NEED TO STAY IN THEIR VEHICLES, STAFF WILL ASSIST WHEN NEEDED.
  • Staff members will direct you to the spot where your child will enter your car.
  • Please refrain from distracting practices such as cell phone usage, loud music & honking horns.
  • Stay in your car and let the children come to you.
  • Please keep walkways clear for walkers.

Oswego Police Department has asked to:

  • MAKE SURE YOU ARE FOLLOWING ALL OF THE RULES OF THE ROAD (speed limits, no illegal u-turns, watching out for pedestrians, etc)
  • Cars are asked to not park and let students out to “walk” on our side roads.

Walkers and Bike Riders

In the morning, walkers enter through Door 12.  They can exit the building in the afternoon through Doors 2 and 12.  We try to limit foot traffic directly in front of the building, so the students should exit the door that is the direction of their travel away from the building.

  • Parents, please stand away from the exit doors.   Please do not approach the building to retrieve your student.  To ensure that all students can dismiss in a safe and orderly fashion, we ask that all parents wait for their students to exit the building and make their way to meet them.  Once you have your child(ren), please exit the area to prevent crowding and allow students to find their parents.
  • Students and parents needing to cross the street must cross at an intersection that has a crossing guard on duty. Model safe habits for our students.
  •  If you have driven your car to pick up your student from the walker line, your car must be parked in a space designated for parking.  Parents must walk to the parent pick-up area using the crossing walk that has staff on duty with a stop sign.  Parents who drive are encouraged to use the car drop-off/pick-up lines.
  • Bike riders may use the bike racks in the front of the building and then line up at their assigned door. When dismissed, students are to go to bike racks and leave campus.
  • Students must walk their bikes while on school property.
  • Student bike riders who need to cross the street must cross at an intersection that has a crossing guard on duty.
  • For the safety of all of our students and staff, pets are NOT allowed on school property.

Bus Arrival and Dismissal

  • The bus circle (East side of the school by Door 3A) is for buses only.  Cars are prohibited from using the front parking lot during arrival or dismissal.
  • If you are parked in the front parking lot, you must wait until all buses have cleared the area before leaving.
  • Staff will be present to support the students with arrival and dismissal.

TRANSPORTATION:  We are happy to announce our new mobile device app and website entitled Here Comes the Bus®.

Here Comes the Bus allows you to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on your smartphone, tablet or computer. With it, you will have the information you need to send your children to the bus stop at just the right time, helping to protect them from inclement weather or other issues, and know when their bus is heading back at the end of the school day.

Here Comes the Bus is free to use, and enables you to:

* See the location of your child’s bus both before and after school

* Confirm that your child’s bus has arrived at the bus stop, at school or both

* Receive a push notification or email message when the bus is near your stop, has been

substituted, or when we have important information to relay

You can use Here Come the Bus in one of two ways. First, either download the mobile app by visiting the App Store or Google Play and searching for “Here Comes the Bus” (the app is available in English, Spanish and French).
