11/07 - Fun Run Every Day Matters!:
One of our school goals that we are working on is improving and maintaining high attendance rates. Daily school attendance is important. There isn’t a day at Sycamore Valley where important learning is not taking place. We strive to make every day and every minute impactful as we work to support the growth of the whole child. With that in mind, we set a goal of improving our Daily Attendance rate from 96.21% to 97.5%. We started the year strong with 98.2% Daily Attendance in August but attendance has dropped off in September (96.9%) and thus far in October (96%). Please help us achieve our goal and schedule vacations on non-student days. If you have any questions or we can help in any way, please reach out to me.
Club Updates:
5th grade Leadership students have held their first meeting. They are organizing their committees and are eager to get to work supporting our school and contributing to the larger community. The No Place For Hate Club will hold their first meeting for interested 4th and 5th grade students next Friday, October 18th. We love how invested our students are in our school community and value their voice and hard work! We will keep you updated on their work.

MATH MADNESS Signups are closed. The team will meet in the Library every Wednesday after school for matches. MATH OLYMPIAD Signups are closed. RESEARCH PROJECTS
The Research Project for October is aligned with the upcoming “Red Ribbon Week.” Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign to increase student awareness of the importance of making healthy choices. Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for schools and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention.
Students can pick any topic for their research presentation that is related to the importance of making healthy choices for the human body and mind. Example research topics may include exercise, sports, healthy eating, etc.
Presentations can be a trifold and/or poster board. Trifolds for projects are available in the front office. For this research topic we will not be accepting slide show (ppt), audio or video presentations as all research presentations will be displayed at the upcoming PTA event for Red Ribbon Week in the MPR. (Date will be announced soon.)
Presentations are due during the week of October 28 – October 31. Students should bring their presentations to the “Red Ribbon Week” event for displaying. Students should take their research projects home at the end of the event.
For any questions or concerns, please contact Raj (rajiedeol@gmail.com). STEAM Art
Signs up for November-May STEAM Art classes will happen on October 24th at 8:30pm. Watch for an email with more details. |
