Hello Churchill Families, Happy Friday, and welcome to October! This week flew by, and with the weekend approaching, we have some fun things to share in honor of “World Animal and Pet Day” , which happens to be today—October 4th! Whether you have a dog, cat, fish, or even a hamster, this weekend is the perfect time to celebrate the furry, feathered, or scaly friends in your life. 🎉 I’ve always believed animals have a special way of reminding us about unconditional love, and I couldn't help but share one of my favorite quotes: "What a beautiful world it would be if people had hearts like dogs."_ 🐾 Speaking of dogs...My own dog made the newsletter this week! Meet Murphy our family’s bundle of joy. He’s a big fan of treats, belly rubs, and chasing rabbits (even though he’s never caught one—don’t tell him that though!). Murphy’s contribution to the newsletter? He wants to remind everyone that cuddles and laughter are the best ways to end any day. And if you happen to drop a snack, he’ll happily help clean up. 😉 Weekend Fun Idea: Explore Nature and Your Neighborhood
This weekend, why not take your family on a fun neighborhood adventure with your pets? Grab a leash, some treats, and take a stroll to the local park, or visit an animal shelter together to give back to our furry friends. For those without pets, a family walk exploring nature can be just as exciting! Point out different animals, bugs, or plants—who knows what you’ll discover?
Or, if it’s a stay-in kind of weekend, have your kids create their own "pet profile" for a stuffed animal, complete with a name, favorite food, and a special trick! Who knows, your living room could turn into the next great pet show. In Other News:
Fall Fest is Right around the corner! Keep watching for information from HSA for November 1, 2024. Important Dates: October 10th: HSA Meeting 6:30-7:30
Wishing you a wonderful weekend full of fun, family, and—if you're lucky—some dog-like love. 💛 Warmly, Principal Marotz
P.S. Murphy sends a tail wag to all of you, and he suggests rewarding your kids with a treat if they clean their rooms this weekend…just like he gets for “cleaning” under the dinner table! |

This month, our Character Strong focus is on Responsibility. Responsibility means taking ownership of one’s actions, being reliable, and following through on commitments. We are teaching students that being responsible helps them succeed both in the classroom and in life. Here are some ways you can help reinforce responsibility at home: Set Clear Expectations: Clearly explain tasks and responsibilities, such as cleaning up toys, doing homework, or helping set the table. Make sure they understand what’s expected and praise their efforts when they follow through.
Create Routines: Establish routines for morning and bedtime, as well as for after school. Consistency helps children understand their responsibilities and develop a sense of accountability.
Use a Calendar or Checklist: For older children, use a family calendar or checklist to help them keep track of schoolwork, chores, and extracurricular activities. This teaches them how to manage their time and commitments.
Model Responsibility: Show them how you manage your own responsibilities, whether it’s paying bills, completing work tasks, or keeping the house organized. Children learn by watching us!
Talk About Mistakes: Let your child know that making mistakes is part of learning. If they forget to do something, like turning in homework or cleaning their room, encourage them to take responsibility for the mistake and find ways to avoid it in the future.
By working together at school and at home, we can help our students grow into responsible, caring individuals who are ready for the challenges ahead. Thank you for your support!
