Reminder! School Funding Forms

If you haven’t filled out the School Funding Form online or on paper, please take a moment now to click on the link below and complete the short survey. Although these surveys ask about income, they are confidential and are only used within our district to determine needs at each school site. A large portion of our funding depends on these forms, so we need your help.

AAL Football Tournament September 20

Alternate text

The Alternative Athletic League held its annual football tournament at the Center High stadium on Friday, September 20. Students from McClellan, Confluence West, Pathways, Phoenix, and Silver Springs High Schools competed in a day-long playoff to determine the league champion.

The McClellan Eagles took 2nd place, winning their first two playoff games but losing the 3rd championship game to Phoenix High School.  All teams played their best, and we are proud of of our student players as well as Mr. Graves and Mr. Stephens, our coaches, and Mr. Collins, the AAL Director.

The Alternative Athletic League involves the five schools mentioned above, and allows over 100 students from three different counties to play competitive sports in a safe, supportive environment. Thanks to staff at all the schools for helping make this happen, and thanks to Center High School for providing a top-notch field for the students to use.

The AAL teams will also compete in basketball, volleyball, and softball later this year.

CalGrants - Money for College

Each year the California Student Aid Commission offers financial aid in the form of Cal Grants to eligible students. A Cal Grant is money for college you don’t have to pay back. Cal Grants can be used at any University of California, California State University, or California Community College, as well as qualifying independent and career colleges or technical schools in California.

To qualify, students must meet the eligibility and financial requirements as well as any minimum GPA requirements. The California Student Aid Commission requires high schools to submit all 12th grade students’ Grade Point Averages by October 1 each year.

This letter is to notify our 11th or 12th grade students (juniors/seniors) and their parents or guardians that they are potential Cal Grant applicants and that their GPA will be submitted to the California Student Aid Commission during their senior year unless they choose to opt out. If you would like to opt out of this process, and you understand that your student will no longer be eligible for a Cal Grant, please return the attached opt-out form to the front office no later than Monday, September 30, 2024.

School Goals:  English and Math Scores

Two of our school goals for the year are for students to raise their scores on district and state English and math tests. Compared to other continuation schools in the area, McClellan students shine in these areas, but compared to the state averages, we have work to do.

We want our students to increase their knowledge and understanding in English and math, and we want them to show what they know on the district I-Ready tests and on the state CAASPP tests.

We are using a number of strategies to help students meet these goals. We are giving more test-like assignments so students feel more comfortable with testing. We have hired an Intervention Teacher, Mrs. Lunsford, to help students in English and math. We are continuing to use online programs in English and math classes that give students practice in areas where they need extra help.

We are encouraging all our students to do their best on all tests. We know we can count on our families and friends to encourage students as well.

Awards Assembly October 2

McClellan High School will have our first awards assembly on Wednesday, October 2. Out of 52 students on campus, 37 made honor roll and 12 earned outstanding attendance awards. We will recognize these students along with our football team. Our staff will call to invite families of all students who will be receiving an award.
