Campo Elementary School

Message from Principal Pawlicki

Hello JR. Redhawk Families,

We have had a great week here at Campo!

Our Scholastic Book Fair and Open House Art Show was a huge success! Thank you to all that came out to support and see some beautiful works of art! We had a busy week finishing up CAASPP testing. The students did a great job coming to school and focusing on the task.

It is hard to believe that we have just 10 days left! Please make sure your kiddos are here everyday. We are finishing strong with a focus on KINDNESS!

4th Grade Zoo Trip: 4th grade traveled to the San Diego Zoo today for a fun-filled, educational field trip!

Yearbooks: We are still selling yearbooks for our 2023-2024 school year. Yearbooks are $25.

6th Grade Camp: 6th grade will be traveling to Camp Cuyamaca from Tuesday - Friday! They are so excited and going to have an amazing time!

Attendance: We have a new way to report attendance! If you go onto our Campo Elementary Website (https://ca.meusd.org/), there is now an attendance button so that you can report an absence online. We hope this helps parents contact us when students will be out.

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program

Fostering a love of reading and its rewards, the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program is popular with students in first through sixth grades and educators throughout America.

Participation is a fun and easy way for kids to earn free books. They simply read 8 books – library books, books borrowed from friends or books bought at Barnes & Noble – write about their favorite part in our Reading Journal, and bring a completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Children then choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal and collect their free book from a store near them during July and August.

Abound Newsletter for the Week of May 17th

New theme: Star Struck (2 weeks of reading and talking about space!)

WordUp: Specific

With the first weekend of summer approaching, we are thinking about the months ahead:

Please encourage your families to create a routine around Abound conversations this spring.

Getting parents/caregivers engaged now could mean

more children entering school next fall who are excited about word learning and filled with knowledge about new topics...and

more parents who "get" what learning to read demands.
