Happy Friday, Quail Families,

September is Attendance Awareness Month. This month, we encourage students to reflect on what they miss when they miss school as we bring awareness of the importance of regular school attendance. We have a Let’s Taco about it bulletin board in the front office for students to share what they miss when not at school.

Our phenomenal Librarian has started planning our Fall Book Fair, that is scheduled to run October 7-11. Our theme this year is "Reading Wizards" with Harry Potter decor.  This event is huge in benefiting our library sustainability and ability to provide our students with a wide range of amazing books. Our amazing library volunteers with help Ms. Howard run this event during conference week. Thank you so much.

Traffic Safety Reminders

Please remember to drive slowly and stay alert in school zones. Use designated drop-off areas, and always watch for children crossing the street. Your patience and caution keep our students safe—thank you!

Coach's Corner

Hello Quails! Who remembers their favorite recess game? I sure do…..four square! I am thrilled to report that after the third week of school, most teams in 2nd-5th grades have learned and practiced our new Quail Run Four Square rules. We play with a “jelly” ball and when the game gets going, it’s a heart-pumping, full body workout. Ask your student to show you how to underhand bounce and return a hit. 1st and 2nd graders have learned a game called, “Switch” that is also played on the four square courts. 1st graders have also practiced underhand bounce.

If you are ever on the playground before or after school, please stop by and introduce yourself. I would love to meet you if I haven’t already! Our 3rd annual Bring Your Grown Ups to PE Week is happening Oct. 7-11. You are invited to join your student(s) for their PE lesson that will be shortened to 30 minutes because of our early dismissal. Email Coach Halonen if you would like to know the time of your student’s lesson and BE SURE THAT YOU ARE CLEARED THROUGH BE A MENTOR on the district website.

When it’s too hot to plank outside, we move to our PE lab! Go Team Lane!

Fall Family Portrait Mini Session!

The Learning Fund is offering portrait mini-sessions for two Saturdays 10/12 and 10/19. This is the perfect opportunity to get your family pictures taken for keepsakes or to create your holiday cards. Space is limited. For more information and to reserve your spot check out our signup here.

PTA Newsletter Subscription

PTA newsletter lists throughout the school district were updated on August 24.  We understand that in the process, some parents who have been receiving the Quail Run newsletter might no longer be on the list.  The reason this would happen is that they opted out of the Release of Directory Information - Category 4 in the Annual Update. If you didn't receive this week's newsletter which went on on Monday, September 2, please click this link to subscribe. Be sure to check the box for the Quail Run's list.

Fall Spooktacular

QRE PTA presents... FALL SPOOKTACULAR on October 25 from 4:15-6:30 PM! It's our very own fall festival featuring trunk-or-treat, games, Pumpkin Decorating Contest, and more! Please let us know if you want to take part in planning this event by filling out this form! STEM Night!

Sign up is open for the upcoming “Build, Engineer, and Invent!” Festival from The Lawrence Hall of Science, on Friday, September 20th in the MPR.

Run for Education 2024!

Sign up for the 2024 Run for Education! The elementary school with the most percentage of participation will win an Otter Pop party!! The annual SRVEF Run for Education will be on Sunday, October 13, 2024. There will be a mini-run, friendship run, 5k, 10k, and virtual run. Our Sister School Needs our Help!

Quail Run Elementary is a proud Sister School partner with Hillside Elementary in San Leandro. They are currently in need of school supplies, first-aid kits, and board games. Please consider donating so we can help make these purchases for them! Donate here!
