Director's Cut

June 2024

What an amazing and truly rewarding year it has been!!!  I would like to thank all of you for making this year such a tremendous success. The support and positive comments we receive from so many of you make all the work worthwhile!! We hope you all see the growth in your students that we have seen!!  We have a lot of people to thank, but first I want you to know about a few things before we say goodbye.

To our staff: We challenged each other at the beginning of the year to not be complacent with past success and continue to improve. BOY did you ever answer the call. In culture, in performance, and in setting a good example. On behalf of the students you challenged and helped grow. THANK YOU. WELL DONE!!

Parents: Thank you for supporting your children through the year. There are ALWAYS ups and downs. By helping support your children through those times, you are preparing them for the ups and downs of real life.  There is no easy button. Thank you for trusting us. The results and the growth we have seen in your children this year are definitely worth the effort. 

Students: Thank you for persevering and finishing strong. The saying, “Tough times never last, tough people do” applies to you. GREAT JOB!!

Trailblazer Awards

This is our 2nd year of this award. We wanted to find a way to recognize the efforts of our top students this year, who not only perform at the highest levels academically, but exemplify the following characteristics: integrity, responsibility, respect, work ethic, and ambition. They not only seek out challenges, but rise to meet them. They are willing to help others. They fill their plates with schoolwork, service, and activities, and demonstrate to others that the bar can always be moved higher. They are the living example of what it looks like to “Work hard and be nice”. They create their own path forward, and blaze the trail so that others can follow.

Honorees are given a medal engraved with their name and the year they earned the award. It may be worn as part of their graduation regalia. 

A year from now we hope to be awarding more college scholarships along with more medals.

Medication pick up:

Stop by the office today to grab your child's medication(s)! If you cannot make it before 4:30pm, the last day to pick up your child’s medications is before 10:00AM on Monday, June 10th. 

Report Cards: 

Will be e-mailed out Monday, June 10th.

Drivers Ed this summer?  

If your 9th or 10th grader is planning on taking driver's Ed this summer, you will need a VOC letter from STEM.  Contact the office before we are closed for summer.

Math Help:   

IXL:   IXL doesn’t take the summer off!!

Some final thoughts:

We continue to see hope in our future. When the rest of the world is afraid of challenging the status quo, you are all excelling at it.  STEM has always been about swimming upstream and counter to the status quo because we know when teachers, office staff, noon-duties, reading aides, parents, and students all have positive attitudes and focus on our common goals and actions, AMAZING things happen!!  When we all row in the same direction, kids win!!

Thank you all for making a difference that can truly never be measured.

Parents, by bringing your children to school every day, you made sure that students not only got an education, but that they were in a safe environment and did not fall behind. 

Thank you to our students for stepping up and performing. We saw all of you care for others, we saw you do more. We saw you work hard and be nice. 

Thank you to each and every one of you for being a part of THAT type of community. Having a positive school climate, getting a good education, and achieving success is an intentional act that is not up to chance. This can happen anywhere when good people hold to standards and practices that are good for kids. We are proud to be a part of a group of people that make those types of choices. We are changing the face of education, and you are all part of that change.
