Hello JR. Redhawk Families, We have had a great week here at Campo!
As we approach the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible progress our students have made. This year has been filled with learning, growth, and numerous achievements, both big and small. Our dedicated teachers and staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that every student receives the support and encouragement they need to succeed. I encourage you to keep this momentum going by maintaining routines, encouraging reading, and celebrating your child's hard work and perseverance. Let's finish the year strong, together, and look forward to an exciting and enriching year ahead.
Yearbooks: We are still selling yearbooks for our 2023-2024 school year. Yearbooks are $25.
Spring Book Fair: May 20th - 23rd we will host a Scholastic Book Fair. Look for the book flier that came home this week for some great books! The Fair will be open
Open House: Thursday, May 23rd is our Open House and Art show. Come out for yummy treats and to see your students' beautiful works of art.
Attendance: We have a new way to report attendance! If you go onto our Campo Elementary Website (https://ca.meusd.org/), there is now an attendance button so that you can report an absence online. We hope this helps parents contact us when students will be out.

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program |
|
|
Fostering a love of reading and its rewards, the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program is popular with students in first through sixth grades and educators throughout America.
Participation is a fun and easy way for kids to earn free books. They simply read 8 books – library books, books borrowed from friends or books bought at Barnes & Noble – write about their favorite part in our Reading Journal, and bring a completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Children then choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal and collect their free book from a store near them during July and August.

Abound Newsletter for the Week of May 17th |
|
|
Theme this week: What's Cooking? (week 2)
Given this week's WordUp, METHOD, it makes sense to share this: The METHODICAL approach Abound uses to teach academic words makes sense. Why? Because these kinds of words are complex and abstract, and to understand them, children need to hear and use them in different contexts over and over.
When introducing morphological units, like the ICAL suffix (which makes nouns into adjectives) in METHODICAL, children start to learn how language "works." This knowledge will help them figure out exponentially more new words they encounter in print. Children who know more about morphology are more likely to read well, especially ELs. |
