Boulder Hill Community Night Thank You

We had a wonderful Boulder Hill Community night!

What amazing opportunity for our families to visit with so many resources that are available in the community.

The following booths were available : Mutual Ground; Family Counseling Services of Aurora; Oswegoland Park District; VNA Aurora; Oswego Food Pantry; NAMI, Little White House Museum; Brokaw Early Learning Center; SD308 Student Services Department; SD308 Health Services Department; Oswego Public Library; Boulder Hill Care Closet and Aramark. Let's not forget Boomer the Bocat!

A huge thank you to the Boulder Hill Trauma & Resilience committee for all of their time and hardwork in making this night a wonderful opportunity for our families. Thank you to the organizations that set-up booths and came out to share offerings available to our families. Thank you also to the staff volunteers and NJHS volunteers who volunteered their time that night; we could not have pulled this event off without you.

Bully Prevention Assembly

On May 10th we will be having an all school assembly, presented by Imagination Theater, called Ease the Tease which focuses on bullying prevention.  For more information please feel free to visit their website https://imaginationtheater.org/schools/ease-the-tease/

School Safety Drills

To ensure safety standards are maintained and improved upon, we consistently conduct safety drills for emergencies as required by Illinois state law.

Staff are trained to use ALICE proactive options-based strategies. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate, which provides our staff with the tools and guidance to handle a violent intruder.

We hope all students will participate in non-threatening drills with staff, however new state law (Aug., 2021) allows students to be “opted-out” of active participation in armed intruder safety drills through the written notification of their parent/guardian.

Please see attachment for more information.

IMPORTANT PARKING & SAFETY REMINDERS

Every student’s safety is important to us. It is our priority to maintain systems and procedures that ensure students arrive and are dismissed in a safe and orderly manner. We ask everyone to follow the established procedures.  Failure to do so causes confusion and an unsafe environment for our students and families.

Here are some reminders that have been previously communicated.

  • All members of the Bobcat family should follow the directions of the staff.
  •  Cars parked on the residential streets should: (1) park behind coned areas; (2) avoid blocking residence
    driveways.
  • Cars should not block bus parking lot entry.
  • Cars should not make u-turns. U-turns are prohibited on Boulder Hill Pass.
  • Parents who park in the church parking lot must cross at the cross walk supervised by the crossing
guard. Do Not walk through the bus crossing lot.
