Falcons,
Can you believe we made it through ¾ of the school year? Great job to our students, families and staff for making it to the 4th quarter! We have Spring Break coming up - encourage your students to use this time to rest and recharge and then come back in April ready to finish strong :) But before we head into Spring Break, don’t forget that we have our Family Picnic this Wednesday, 3/28, during the student lunches. There’s no rain in the forecast, so let’s all keep our fingers crossed that it stays that way! When we come back from Spring Break, we go right into Everyone is Welcome - this is only one of the ways that our school lives out our commitment to a more inclusive learning environment where everyone is welcome. We all play a part in ensuring that Windemere is a place where everyone belongs.
We also have a few things to remember and remind your students - personal devices and headphones/earbuds are not permitted for use during the school day. They must all be turned off and put away during the school day. When dropping off your student, please be sure to remind them to turn these items off and pack away in a safe place. To be clear, they cannot be worn or held throughout the school day, including passing periods, breaks, and lunches; these items will be confiscated and can be picked up in the main office after school.
Last week, our 8th graders had a visit from Mrs. Helmer and Mr. Guerena in their Core classes with a reminder about behavioral and academic expectations for this final quarter. We are excited about the final end of year events, and we hope that all our 8th graders will be able to attend providing that they meet these expectations until that last day of 8th grade!
As we look at closing out the year, I also encourage all of you to strongly consider how to get involved with PTSA and EdFund. These two caregiver organizations are what make WRMS the school that it is today. Our PTSA board members and volunteers make it possible for us to celebrate everything from our Fall Ice Cream Social, Heritage Night, our 8th Grade Promotion Party and everything in between. Our EdFund board members make it possible for WRMS to offer the after school Windemere Workspace that is open to ALL students, maintain the diverse elective offerings that draw families to our school, and keep class sizes down. Since 2005, Falcon Families have carried on a tradition of service, volunteerism, and support that gives our staff the resources we need to ensure every student stays on the path of becoming empathetic critical thinkers, building upon their strengths as lifelong learners. Please contact wrmsptsa@gmail.com for PTSA opportunities and windemereranch.edfund@srvef.org for EdFund opportunities; or you can always email me directly!
Have a great Spring Break! Ms. Baltazar |

| Greetings, Windemere Ranch Middle School Families!
Can you believe it? We're entering the final stretch of the school year, and our campus is alive with the energy of spring! From smiling faces to the sound of laughter echoing in the halls, it's clear that the season of growth and renewal is upon us.
As we embrace this vibrant time, I wanted to take a moment to touch base on an essential aspect of our school community: behavior expectations. Recently, the administration had the opportunity to meet with all 8th-grade core classes to discuss these expectations in detail. We understand the importance of fostering a positive learning environment where every student feels supported and respected.
To ensure clarity and transparency, I've included information on behavior expectations in this newsletter for all grades. If you turn to pages 24-26 of the student planner, you'll find our progressive discipline guidelines outlined. These guidelines provide a clear overview of the consequences students may face for various behaviors. Whether you're a student, parent, or staff member, it's crucial to familiarize yourself with these guidelines. They serve as a foundation for maintaining a safe and productive learning environment for everyone.
If you have any questions or need further clarification on our behavior expectations or discipline procedures, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via email. I'm here to provide support and assistance whenever you need it. Let's continue to work together to make the remainder of the school year a success, filled with positivity, growth, and achievement! Sincerely, Christine Helmer Asst. Principal Windemere Ranch Middle School |

School Safety & Traffic Procedures |
Falcons, please know that only our students are allowed on campus, past the black gates. If you need to come on campus for any reason, please stop in the Admin Building and speak with our front office staff.
Traffic and student safety continues to be a concern. Continue to follow all traffic laws on and around campus.
Please take a few minutes with your family and view our Traffic Procedures Video. |
Leaving during the school day:
If a student is to be dismissed before the end of the day, a note must be presented to the office before school begins. The parent/guardian is then required to sign-out at the attendance office at the time of departure. Read the entire policy on p. 11 of the WRMS Student Handbook. |

Keep Your Child On Track in Middle and High School: Pay Attention to Attendance.
Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and on the job.

| Arriving late to school:
Students arriving to school 5 minutes after the bell rings to their first class period must sign in at the attendance office before going to class. If a student arrives to school 30 minutes after their school day has started, a parent note or phone call is required (p. 10, WRMS Student Handbook). |

Advisory / Tutorials
Students are responsible for signing up in advance for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Tutorials. They should check their schedule in the Student Portal everyday to ensure they are attending the correct Tutorial. If the student does not attend their assigned tutorial they will be marked absent. If they have gone to a class other than their assigned tutorial, it is the student's responsibility to have that teacher email school attendance. Parents are not able to clear these absences.
|
Tardies: Students who arrive to class after the bell rings for any of their class periods will be considered and marked tardy for that class. Accumulated tardies within the quarter will receive the following consequences: The 5th tardy will result in a lunch detention The 8th tardy will result in an after school detention 10 tardies or more may result in a Saturday School Please see the WRMS Student Handbook/Planner (p. 10-11) for more information regarding our tardy policy. Please remember that the only absences that are excused are illnesses and medical/dental appointments. To report an absence, please call the 24 Hour Hotline or send an email with student first & last name, student ID # and reason for absence.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MANAGING ANGER
It never feels good to rage at someone you love, especially a child. Anger is a completely natural and healthy emotion. But research shows that frequent, uncontrolled anger is linked to heart disease, digestive disorders, trouble sleeping, and other health problems. It's also linked to family violence and aggression.
Anger management can help you deal with your child or grandchild in a kind and constructive way. It also sets a good example of how to handle challenging situations and work out conflicts. Click on HERE to keep reading |
