Dear North Country Families,

Our 3rd-6th grade students begin state testing this week! Please be sure your child gets plenty of sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives on campus by 7:55 a.m. for the next couple of weeks! We look forward to showing how much we've grown as a school academically through state testing!

We are in our 2 year modernization process, so you will begin seeing workers on our campus starting this week! We are excited about the upcoming changes, and look forward to the process ahead! The new trashcan enclosure has been painted, so check it out because those will be the new building colors of the school after modernization is completed!  If you have any questions please reach out to the office at 916-338-6480.

Believe it or not we are just over a month away from the end of the school year. How fast it has gone! This year we will be having a 6th grade promotion celebration on the last day of school, May 30th, right after our trimester three awards ceremony from 9:30 - 10:15. We are looking for help to make a balloon arch on May 29th after school and help setting/cleaning up the morning of the ceremony. If you are interested in helping, please reach out Ms. Pezel at pezelh@centerusd.org.

North Country is fundraising to support our school's initiative to build a running track! Your willingness to donate towards this project is truly appreciated and will have a significant impact on our students' overall well-being. By providing them with a safe and dedicated space to engage in physical activity, you are not only promoting a healthy lifestyle, but also fostering a sense of community and teamwork. Our students will greatly benefit from this addition to our school grounds, as it will encourage regular exercise, boost their self-esteem, and instill lifelong habits of staying active.

Your donation will go directly towards the construction and maintenance of the running track, ensuring that our students have access to a high-quality facility. We are committed to creating an environment where our students can thrive both academically and physically, and your support is instrumental in realizing this vision. We deeply value your contribution, and it is donors like you who make a positive difference in the lives of our students!

Our schoolwide READING challenge is underway until May 24th! ALL TK-6th grade students have the opportunity to earn a Kindle Fire! The Antelope Lions Club is providing 7 Kindle Fires to promote the love of reading. Be sure your child is working on Lexia or Reading Plus for a chance to win a ticket into the drawing! In addition, depending on condition, the PTO has an opportunity to earn up to $7.00 per pair of sneakers. All money raised from the drive will go towards getting our school's new running track (as mentioned in Weekly Snapshot). Please look for the donation box outside of the office.

Students are participating in art with Ms. Haslam on Mondays to create the displays for the bulletin in the foyer by the office. We will also be incorporating music to reflect these cultures during the morning walk and for the quote of the day in our morning announcements.

April - Arab Heritage Month

May - Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI) LGBTQ/Pride Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. On 5/2, Ms. Haslam will be doing activities at lunch to help educate our students. To show our support for this month, we encourage staff and students to wear GREEN or a shirt with a POSITIVE message on this day. Thank you for helping spread this message of awareness!
