A Message from FC's Administration

03/07/24 Happy Thursday 🦊!

Just a friendly reminder that Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday.  Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night!

Parents,
IAR testing is underway.  Please make sure our students are getting a great nights sleep and eating breakfast.  If you have any specific testing questions, do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.

REMINDER- Be on the lookout for 2 surveys.

The 1st survey is our 5Essentials survey.  This survey is one we have been doing for a number of years now in the district.  This one is used to help the building and district create our next years growth goals and action plans.  Here is the parent survey-  Please take it at your earliest convenience.  http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/

The 2nd survey, Oswego Community Unit School District 308 has contracted with an external evaluation team from CMSi to complete a Curriculum and Systems Audit. The study includes a comprehensive evaluation of the school district's work in delivering learning to students. Please take it at your earliest convenience.

A Message from the Office

Before School Reminder

Staff is not available to supervise students before 8:40 AM. We are getting increased reports of misbehaviors on the playground and grounds around the school before that time. Prior to 8:40, parents/guardians need to be supervising their children if they are playing on school grounds. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

Read Across America Week is next week!  We will celebrate with a spirit week.  Please visit this flyer for the themes for each day and all the information.

Quick reminder, all kindergarten and 2nd grade students are required to turn in a dental exam form.  All forms are due May 15, 2024 and must be dated within 18 months of this current school year.

Attendance Matters!  School attendance is important in so many ways.  It can have a huge effect on academic success and the formation of important relationships with classmates and teachers.  Coming on time every day helps students establish important routines and helps them transition into the school day with their peers. Please see the attached flyers with more information about why attendance matters and ways you can improve your child’s attendance.

Unsure what symptoms should keep your child home from school?  Use this handy chart to help guide you in making decisions about your child attending school when they are under the weather.

The office staff will continue to work with students and parents to make sure our students are present and on time for school daily.  If there are consistent struggles with this, you may be receiving communication from the office on how to best help our students.

6th Grade Band and Choir at Traughber

Traughber will be holding band instrument tryouts March 15 and 16.  If your child may be interested in joining band, be sure to sign up for one of the time slots so they can try out the instruments and find the best fit.  You can find the information here.

If your student is interested in joining choir in junior high, please see this information sheet about signing up.

If you have friends or neighbors in the district who will be enrolling their first child into kindergarten for next year, please pass on this flyer to them so they can participate in our February enrollment events!  Here is the flyer in Spanish as well!

A Message from Our Home and School

We are excited to announce our 5th annual Read-a-Thon has started! This year's Read-a-thon will run from Monday, February 26th through Monday, March 11th! Our goal this year is PARTICIPATION- to get all students reading daily and excited about reading! Help your child find an assortment of genres, choose a topic as a family to read about, create a cozy reading corner or take a trip to the library- so many ways to make reading fun! Not only will your child be challenged to see how many minutes he/she can log but it also gives family and friends the opportunity to support essential reading habits while raising money to fund many fun events put on by the Fox Chase Home and School Association. By keeping track of reading minutes and earning money towards our goal, your child(ren) will also have the chance to win prizes for their efforts! Be on the lookout for instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. However, we encourage you to activate your reader's account today by clicking on the following link.  https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/313132313334 This is where you will be able to record and view their progress.
