Principal's Message

Principal’s Message:

As February comes to a close, we reflect on what a
great month it was for Berry Creek School! The
classroom building is vertical and they are putting in the
wells as we speak!! We are hoping to secure funding in
April to finish the classroom building by August! It is
construction so nothing is a guarantee!! We continue to
look for funding to complete the other building as soon
as possible!! It is progress and we are very excited!!

The year has flown by so quickly and we are now into
the second trimester. Conferences are coming up soon
and we are covering a lot of academic ground in the
next few months. Please review the work your child
brings home and share those positive comments on
what a great job they are doing!! Thank you for your
continued support!!

Mr.Peet's Corner

March will be the start of some new things for us. Algebra will be our main focus as we wrap up geometry, Imperialism replaces the Enlightenment period, and the solar system becomes our science focus.

    Recently we were able to spend the day at the Butte County Career Day. About a thousand eighth graders from Butte and Glenn county cruised around the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds, visiting booths that represented all types of careers. I don't think our guys knew there were that many things out there to do. 

    I'll be coaching a few of the 5th-8th graders for Track, so if your kid is one of them please make sure they have running shoes, thanks. T. Peet

Hello TK-2nd Grade Families!

We had a great time at the Sacramento Zoo and Underground Miniature Golf!!  Please see the pictures!

What we will be learning in March:

What's New???

We have started a new Social and Emotional Learning platform called Navigate 360. Please take some time to read over these resources in your child's folder and have conversations about them with your kiddos.  They are unique to each grade level, so please check all folders!

Pyramid of Success Blocks for March: 

Fitness: "Act,eat and think right. To do your best and succeed you must eat right, think right, and act right!"

Skill: Practice makes perfect. To improve your level of skill takes practice, study, and repetition, repetition, repetition!"

ELA:

TK/K are working in Unit 3 Nature's Wonders.  This unit focuses on Earth Science, Seasons, Weather, the Sky, Life Science, Animal Bodies and Animal Homes.

1st graders are still working in Unit 3: Nature Near and Far.  This unit is focused in large part on Life Science, Marine Habitats, Jungle Animals, Seasons.  We will also touch on Citizenship. 

2nd grade will start Unit 5 Changes, Changes Everywhere.  This unit focuses on Life Science, Recreation, Following Directions, Visual Arts, Cultures and Traditional Stories.

MATH:

TK and Kindergarten are finishing up Chapter 7: Show, count, and write numbers 11-19.  They will move on the Chapter 8.

1st grade is working in Chapter 8 Two Digit Addition and Subtraction.  They are doing great so far!

2nd grade is starting 3-Digit Addition with regrouping (carrying).

ASP News

Happy March Berry Creek families,  

We have some exciting activities planned for March, including making our annual leprechaun traps! We are looking for donations of small boxes of any kind. Enjoy some pics below of some yummy snacks we made! We also had a special guest from BCOE come teach us yoga for the day. 

Just a friendly reminder that ASP encourages students not to bring toys from home as it is easy for them to get misplaced or broken. Toys from the PBIS Student Store on Fridays are OK. Also, the week of 3/11-3/15 ASP will be released at 3:30pm.  

We encourage students to work on their homework for the homework hour provided. Students are able to receive help on their homework from several staff members and have access to school supplies. After school program is not a homework completion program.

Congratulations to the BangorBraves!!! You are an awesome team!!! Give yourself a huge hug and be PROUD!!! I had a few fifth graders on this 7/8 girls basketball team and they showed hard work and dedication. Also, made us a lot of points!!! Good job girls!!! Good job team!!! We will be having a pizza party to celebrate their success, and date and time is TBD.

I would like to announce that soccer is now here & practice will start soon!

School Spirit Sweaters for Purchase

Due to the high request for Berry Creek School sweaters, the Parent Advisory Committee approved ordering a small inventory to keep on hand. They decided to sell them at cost, this is not a fundraiser. If you would like to purchase one please call the office to reserve yours and make arrangements for pick up. They are $40 each. We do have a limited amount on hand but can place a monthly order if there is a need. 

Parent Teacher Conferences

Join us for Parent Teacher Conferences!!! Week of March 11th-15th

Early Dismissal all week @ 1:30 /ASP 3:30 

Please join us for an informational parent meeting conference with your child's teacher to discuss their current academic standing. We want to remind you how important it is to come and support your child during this week. As they grow and learn, giving them that extra support and positive reinforcement really improves your child's progress!!! We thank you very much!
