Message from Principal Pawlicki

Hello JR. Redhawk Families,

We have had a great week here at Campo! Here are some upcoming events for March:
3/4 - 3/8 : Read Across America (see attached flier for dress-up days)

3/4 - Spring Picture Day

3/6 - 2nd Trimester Report Cards go home

3/10 - Daylight Savings - Spring Forward

3/15 - Literacy Event @9am in Library

3/21 - 3rd Grade to San Diego Zoo

3/22 - 2nd Trimester Awards Assembly

Attendance: We have a new way to report attendance! If you go onto our Campo Elementary Website (https://ca.meusd.org/), there is now an attendance button so that you can report an absence online. We hope this helps parents contact us when students will be out.

Teacher of the Year: Our staff voted on our Teacher of the Year this week. We are excited to announce the amazing Amanda Vowles, a third grade teacher, as our TOY. Amanda’s tireless work to provide an amazing education to each and every student in her classroom. One colleague was quoted as saying, “Mandy is a compassionate and dedicated educator. She works with her students and her families to ensure that they all are successful on a daily basis. She adds fun and engaging lessons each week. Her students love her!”

Classified Employee of the Year: We also voted for the Classified Employee of Year. Our CEOY is our amazing Lead Custodian, Sara Jimenez. Sara keeps our school safe and clean everyday and we couldn’t do it without her! One staff member was quoted as saying, “Sara is an amazing custodian! She had to clean our whole school by herself for several months until a new hire was secured. Sara goes above and beyond with our classrooms and helps anywhere when needed. She’s awesome!”

Congratulations to both of these amazing women!

Our goal is to Be Here, Be On Time, and Be Kind!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

3rd grade was visited by the San Diego Zoo this week! Students got to touch pelts of a polar bear, otter, zebra and wombat. We even saw a REAL giraffe hoof in person! We are scientists and love every second of it!

Black History Month Presentations

This month, Campo Elementary Students dove into research projects that provided students with valuable insights into the contributions, struggles, and achievements of Black individuals throughout history. It not only helps them learn about significant figures and events but also encourages making connections and sharing perspectives. Plus, it's a great opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of diversity and inclusion. Celebrating Black History Month in this manner fosters a sense of appreciation and respect for the rich cultural heritage of the Black community.

Abound Newsletter for the Week of March 4th

Next week we start a new theme, Sports & Play.

WordUp is PHYSICAL

Example TalkOn question:

--When a runner goes once around a track, or a swimmer swims the length of a pool and back, it’s called a lap. Would you rather run a lap around a track or swim a lap in a pool? Why?

Example WordUp question:

--PHYSICAL means having to do with your body, not your mind. Sitting and thinking is not a PHYSICAL activity, but jumping is! What is your favorite thing to do inside that's PHYSICAL? Can you do that anyplace inside, or not? Why?
