Fill Out the Family-School Relationships Survey! |
CJUSD Families-
Share valuable input, feedback, and suggestions by completing the Family-School Relationships Survey now through February 16. Sharing your perspective and voice about school climate and culture, safety and well-being, and engagement practices will help the district and its schools continue to identify accomplishments, areas of opportunity, and next steps. Your previous input has been incredibly valuable in helping shape The Center Commitment to strengthen school culture. While we have a lot to celebrate, we recognize we have areas to grow in. Please know we hear YOU and that YOUR voice matters. Thank you for being our partners in education!

Blankets of Hope at Oak Hill |
Oak Hill Elementary School is proud to announce its collaboration with the student council, led by Dabrena Diab and Rebecca Ryan, in the Blankets of Hope project.
During this collaboration, students participate in a 30-minute kindness workshop and write letters of encouragement. The funds raised by the students are used by Blankets of Hope to purchase blankets, which are then distributed at the school along with the letters of encouragement to those in need. Last year, the PTA board members and students partnered with Helping Hands and Hearts of Antelope to distribute 150 blankets and food to the homeless. This impactful event not only aided the homeless population, but also left a lasting impression on our children.
This year, we are thrilled to report that our Oak Hill community in Antelope has once again demonstrated their generosity. Through their contributions, we have raised enough funds to acquire 190 blankets. Blankets of Hope has doubled our contribution, and we will now be receiving 390 blankets for distribution. Moreover, in addition to the blankets, we have also collected various essential items such as socks, combs, sunscreen, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. These items have been assembled into 120 blessing bags by our student council.
In the near future, we will distribute the blankets, blessing bags, and additional food supplies provided by Helping Hands and Hearts of Antelope.
We express our deepest gratitude to educators like Ms. Diab and Ms. Ryan, who play a crucial role in helping us make a positive impact on our community. |

Center Commitment "Valued" Stories |
Over the next month, we are focusing on the "You are Valued" part of the Center Commitment. As part of creating and supporting a positive school culture, we look to share some stories from students and staff who treat others fairly, show compassion and self-expression, and respecting the efforts of others. |

This story comes from Christina Croshal, Assistant Principal at North Country Elementary School. She is new to our district this year, and in a rather unique turn of events, supported North Country as it's main administrator while the principal was on maternity leave. Christina has said that she feels valued in CJUSD from the support she felt during that time: "Since day one, I have felt as though the work I did was important because of all the constant support from the District office. Have Scott [Loehr], Lisa [Coronado], Chris [Borasi], and really the whole leadership team check on me and then validate that I was holding down the fort successfully really made my year. I was ... treated like I have worked here for a decade... Truly, I feel very valued for the work I do." Christina also touches on the importance of feeling valued in that "It makes me excited to come to work everyday and do my best."
We are so happy that Christina joined our district this year. We truly respect her efforts and value the contributions she continues to make to our administration team. |
