We value your input! Please take a moment to share your thoughts and feedback with us about our calendar planning for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. Your input is valuable and we are open to hearing all perspectives on how the current school year instructional calendar has been beneficial or not beneficial for you and your student(s), and we appreciate your insight into how the calendar impacts our community overall. The Instructional Calendar Feedback form will accept responses through Monday, November 13th. Some things for you to consider as you share your thoughts with us: -
All public school students in California must receive 180 days of instruction
- The school year must go into at least one day in June, to ensure that SRVUSD classified employees (such as office staff, custodians, and paraeducators) receive a full year of service credit.
-
Several years ago, in response to parent/community concerns for the social emotional well-being of students who had finals in January and therefore were not benefiting from a true winter break, SRVUSD moved to an earlier start date so that finals could be before winter break.
-
Floating work days were also brought into the instructional calendar around the same time, to provide certificated staff much-needed preparation time to prepare for conferences, complete grades etc. For example, at the secondary level, finals go up to winter break and grades are due when students return in January.
-
In recent instructional calendar planning, two of the staff development days were moved to be prior to the first day of school to lessen the impact on student days off during the school year. The District also reduced the number of minimum days for the same reason.
Again, we are appreciative to our community for sharing their thoughts with us by taking a few moments to complete the Instructional Calendar Feedback form.
