As part of the effort within our Santa Clara County, we are providing every student and staff member with an at-home COVID testing kit. We ask that you have your student take the test prior to our return to school on November 28th.

Exclusion from School
According to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), persons who have cold/flu symptoms, or
symptoms of COVID-19, should be instructed to stay at home and must not attend school or work in-
person.
Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 may provide documentation of their positive test result to
indicate their need for exclusion from in-person learning during their period of isolation. Additional
information available here.
Criteria for Returning to School After Illness
Most students and staff should not need a note to return to school after a respiratory illness.
Someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 may return to school if:
• it has been at least 5 days since their symptoms started (or, if asymptomatic, at least 5 days since the
date their positive COVID-19 test was collected), AND
• if symptomatic, their symptoms are improving, AND
• at least 24 hours have passed since their last fever, without the use of fever-reducing medications,
AND
• a COVID-19 test* collected on Day 5 or later is negative.
If the COVID test is negative, the symptomatic student or staff member should remain at home until 24
hours have passed since resolution of any fever (without the use of fever-reducing medications) and other
symptoms are improving, unless they were diagnosed with another illness. Negative test results may be
provided to the school to facilitate return to the classroom.
If a student or staff member is unable to unwilling to test for COVID-19, they should avoid attending school
until symptoms have resolved, unless they have an alternative explanation for their symptoms by a medical
provider.
If a student or staff member has been diagnosed with another respiratory illness such as RSV or influenza,
they should follow their medical provider’s instructions on when to return to school.
